I take the liberty of addressing to your Lordship a few observations on the subject of my letter of the 19th May last, a copy of which I have hereunto annexed (No. 5009). It related to my application for further Colonial employment, to which your Lordship returned an answer, that you could not rest solely upon the desire of obtaining from the Colonial department an evidence of their disapproval and censure of the mal-practices, which it had been my duty to report to them, in my official character of the Queen's Attorney General.
I had hoped that such a testimonial would satisfy the Colony, which was the scene of my labours, and the Country, whose just appreciation of my services was my only reward.
